Chicopee® and Sontara®, two of the most trusted and established names in the professional wipes industry, have announced a unified brand strategy following their integration under parent company Magnera®. This initiative marks a significant step in aligning both brands under a unified vision, reinforcing their market leadership and enhancing their ability to serve global customers with enhanced focus and agility.
With a combined legacy of nearly 275 years, the two brands have long been at the forefront of professional cleaning solutions across a wide range of industries. This consolidated strategy represents a pivotal evolution for both brands, aligning their strengths under Magnera’s unified vision to better serve their existing markets – with renewed investment, expanded capabilities, and clearly defined market focuses for each brand.
Chicopee, founded more than two centuries ago, has long been a pioneer in delivering reliable, high-quality wiping products. As part of this unified brand strategy, Chicopee will focus its efforts on the foodservice, building care, and healthcare markets. The brand will strengthen its commitment to product innovation and sustainability, while strategically concentrating on these core segments to better support customers with increased brand awareness activities.
“This defined strategy is not only about honoring our legacy but also about re-establishing Chicopee as the partner of choice for professionals who rely on hygiene, care, and sustainability every day in busy kitchens, airports, hospitals, and other high-demand environments,” said James Taylor, European Commercial Director, Chicopee and Sontara.
Introduced in 1973, Sontara® is recognized globally for its technical leadership in high-performance nonwoven materials, supported by its proprietary, chemical-free spunlace manufacturing technology. The brand, which has served multiple market sectors over its lifespan, will now place renewed emphasis on critical cleaning wipes for precision-driven industries such as aerospace, automotive refinishing, cleanroom, manufacturing, and printing.
“Sontara is known for delivering unmatched performance in highly specialized and engineered environments, and this new chapter strengthens our position and our ability to serve global customers with even greater impact. Our technology base is the perfect solution to support the transition to wipes made from recycled and plastic-free materials thanks to our proprietary process and raw material expertise,” said Seth Good, Americas Product Line Management Director, Chicopee and Sontara.
By uniting under Magnera, Chicopee and Sontara now benefit from a strengthened combination of local manufacturing footprints across the U.S. and Europe, complementary product portfolios, cross-brand technologies, and shared access to world-class R&D and technical expertise. This strategic alignment allows both brands to operate with greater agility and purpose, unlocking new possibilities for product innovation and sustainability advancements, while offering distributors and end-users streamlined access to innovation and market-specific solutions.
This clear strategic direction is being supported by increased brand awareness activities and customer support, along with a strong pipeline of new product introductions starting this fall. With this unified strategy, Chicopee and Sontara reaffirm their commitment to customer partnership, technical leadership, and sustainable innovation, setting the stage for long-term growth and global impact.
Their first major joint appearance under the unified Magnera strategy is set for next April at Interclean 2026, the leading international trade show for cleaning professionals. This milestone event will mark the beginning of a new chapter for both brands, offering a powerful platform to demonstrate their strengthened market leadership with refined market focuses, expanded capabilities, and commitment to innovation and sustainability in the professional wipes market.
